Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Councillors are set to debate a motion from Cllr Margaret Lewington on plans by the Welsh Air Ambulance charity to move the current helicopter from Welshpool to North Wales.

In the motion, Cllr Lewington states that the air ambulance service is 'vital to Mid Wales including the residents of Newtown'.
The motion comes as a public meeting is set to take place on Friday 23rd September in Newtown.
The full wording of the motion is:
“Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is of the opinion that the air ambulance service is vital to not only the residents of Newtown but those of the surrounding area the Town Council and should write to the Air Ambulance Service asking them to reconsider their proposal and remain at their currentlocation and inaddition, and the Town Council should write to the Welsh Government asking them notto leave Newtown residents stranded.”
It is expected that town councillors will support the motion.
