Runner Up - Local Business of the Year Award 2024 (Third Sector)

Volunteer Policy

1. Introduction

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with All About Newtown. Volunteers are an integral part of our organisation, and your dedication and support contribute significantly to our mission. This policy outlines the guidelines and expectations for volunteers to ensure a positive and productive experience for both the volunteers and the organisation.

2. Mission Statement

All About Newtown is dedicated to promoting Newtown to a wide audience - residents, businesses and visitors. Volunteers play a crucial role in helping us achieve our goals and make a positive impact in the community.

3. Volunteer Opportunities

All About Newtown offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to match the skills, interests, and availability of our volunteers. These opportunities may include, but are not limited to, event support, fundraising, administrative tasks, outreach, and program assistance.

4. Application Process

All potential volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application form. The application will be reviewed, and successful applicants will be contacted for an interview. This process helps us match volunteers with the most suitable opportunities and assess their skills and availability.

5. Training and Orientation

All volunteers will receive training and orientation relevant to their roles. This may include an overview of the organisation, specific task training, and any necessary safety or confidentiality protocols.

6. Code of Conduct
  • Treating all individuals with respect and dignity.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Following safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Fulfilling commitments and responsibilities.
7. Time Commitment

Volunteers are expected to commit to a specified number of hours per week or month, depending on the nature of their roles. Clear communication about availability and any changes to the schedule is essential.

8. Supervision and Support

Volunteers will have a designated supervisor or contact person who will provide guidance, support, and feedback. Regular check-ins may be scheduled to ensure a positive volunteering experience.

9. Recognition and Appreciation

All About Newtown values the contributions of its volunteers and will express gratitude through recognition events, certificates, or other forms of acknowledgment.

10. Conflict Resolution

In the event of any conflicts or concerns, volunteers are encouraged to communicate with their supervisor or designated contact person. All concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.

11. Termination of Volunteer Relationship

Either the volunteer or All About Newtown may terminate the volunteer relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice.

Approved by the Board on the 24th February 2024.
