Everyone is invited to this plaque unveiling, at 11am Monday 17th June outside the HSBC Bank. The QR Code on the plaque will lead you to the Town Council website Newtown Heritage Trail Robert Owen (1771-1858) - Newtown : Newtown with history information.

This Newtown Heritage Trail plaque was donated by Newtown Local History Group.

The Mayor Cllr Mike Childs and pupils from Ysgol Robert Owen new school will unveil the Robert Owen Heritage Birthplace plaque.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary where Robert Owen's Birthplace was demolished to make way for the Midland Bank which is now the HSBC Bank. And the 95th Anniversary of Robert Owen's Memorial Museum which was opened in May 1929 and situated on the top floor of the Bank. Almost 50 years ago the museum was then moved to Brisco House across the road.
