Local residents in Newtown are invited to participate in an antiques valuation event at the Monty Club on 17th April to raise money for Marie Curie.

The event, organized by the Newtown Fundraising Group, will feature specialists from Halls Fine Art who will provide professional valuations on various items including jewellery, silver, watches, paintings, pottery, books, and more.

For a small fee of £1 per item, attendees can have their cherished belongings appraised by experts such as Alexander Clement, Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley, and Abigail Molenaar.

The funds raised from the event will support Marie Curie, a charity that provides care and support for those with terminal illnesses. Llinos Hughes from the Newtown Fundraising Group expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the community, highlighting the group's impressive fundraising efforts over the years. The group has consistently ranked among the top fundraisers for Marie Curie in Wales.

Senior General Valuer, Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley said:

“We know from past experience that there are absolute gems just waiting to be discovered in the Newtown area,”

“Obviously, we are looking for items to sell in our future auctions, but we offer valuations without an obligation to sell."

“Receiving an up-to-date valuation of silver, jewellery, watches, pictures and antiques is very important for homeowners, as they will not want to be underinsured in the unfortunate event of having to make a claim.”

Last October, Halls Fine Art sold a collection of jewellery from a Newtown seller for £25,000, including a sapphire and diamond ring at £2,700. A gold coin collection from Mid Wales also sold for £19,000 last month.

Those unable to attend the event can arrange for a home visit by providing photographs of their collections to the fine art team. For more information or to schedule a valuation appointment, individuals can contact the Halls Fine Art team at 01743 450700.
