The event promises a day of intense competition, camaraderie, and muddy challenges for athletes from schools, colleges, and regions across Wales.

Newtown's central position within Wales makes it an ideal location for this prestigious event, and Dolerw Park has been chosen for its scenic beauty and challenging terrain. The races will take place on a new winding multi-lap circuit, offering spectators an excellent view of the athletes in action. The undulating and technical course is sure to test the mettle of participants, with expectations of muddy stretches adding an extra layer of excitement.

Catering services will be available at the Hafan Yr Afon Visitor Centre in the car park, just a stone's throw away from the course. Additionally, participants and spectators can explore various dining options in the bustling Town Centre.

Ensuring a smooth experience for all attendees, several parking options are available, with the main town car park (Back Lane Car Park) being the primary location. However, with the possibility of it filling up quickly, organizers recommend planning ahead and utilizing alternative parking sites such as Ladywell House Car Park and the Gravel Car Park.

The Races and Categories

The excitement kicks off at 11:15 with the Primary School Races, organized in collaboration with 'Urdd Gobaith Cymru.' Races for boys and girls in years 3 & 4 and years 5 & 6 will cover a distance of 1,300m each.

The main championship races will feature athletes from various age groups and categories, including Inter-Schools Championships, Inter-Regional Championships, and Welsh Colleges Championships. The team sizes and scoring criteria differ for each category, ensuring a fair and competitive atmosphere.

As the dust settles after each race, presentations will be made near the Registration Marquee. Awards will be given for the top three individuals and teams in each category. Organizers aim to make presentations on the day itself, celebrating the achievements of the talented athletes.

For those looking to be part of this exciting event, organizers are actively seeking event marshals. Volunteers can sign up here to contribute to the success of the championships. As an added incentive, volunteers can earn Tempo Time Credits, which can be exchanged for a variety of products, services, and activities.

The Welsh Inter-Schools & Colleges / Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships in Newtown promises to be a day filled with competitive spirit, community engagement, and the celebration of athletic excellence. Don't miss out on the action-packed day at Dolerw Park!
