County Council hosts business reception

Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, Cllr David Selby, delivered a presentation outlining the Council's Corporate Improvement and Equalities Plan - Stronger Fairer Greener.
He discussed various investment and project opportunities available through initiatives such as the Levelling Up Fund, UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Brilliant Basics, and Transforming Towns.
"The reception emphasizes the importance of partnering with businesses throughout Powys to enhance the county's prosperity. The Council is dedicated to implementing key developments that will strengthen the local economy," stated Cllr David Selby.
Additionally, the reception celebrated the accomplishments of the Powys Business Awards.
Ceri Stephens from the Mid Wales Manufacturing Group commemorated the event and presented the Managing Director of Wipak, Andrew Newbold, with the 2022 award.
During the reception, Arthyr Emyr from the Global Centre of Rail Excellence project also spoke about the business opportunities associated with the £400m private/public sector project for a rail testing centre and related infrastructure near Ystradgynlais on the Powys border.
Interested organizations were encouraged to register on the Sell to Wales website and join the 'Supply Chain Community' mailing list on gcre.wales.
The session concluded with a presentation from the County Council's Procurement and Economic Development services, providing information on potential business opportunities and collaborations with the council on major projects.
