Local walk to promote challenging gender-based behaviours.
Residents are invited to participate in a walk in Newtown on Saturday, November 25, to demonstrate their support for putting an end to men's violence against women and girls.

These walks are being organized by the county council in solidarity with the global White Ribbon movement.

This year, the movement is urging individuals to #ChangeTheStory by challenging harmful gender-based behaviors and attitudes.
The walks are scheduled to commence at 11am and will depart from the Integrated Family Centre on Park Street.
Similar walks will also take place in Llandrindod Wells, Brecon, and Welshpool. Participants can look forward to refreshments at the conclusion of each walk, in the respective town centers.
In support of the White Ribbon movement, there will also be a stand in Bear Lanes Shopping Centre in Newtown from 11am to 2pm on November 25. The stand aims to raise awareness about the goals of the movement, and the Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre will be distributing free personal safety alarms, as well as providing advice and information.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Powys County Council's Deputy Leader and one of its White Ribbon Lead Ambassadors said:
"Please come and join us at one of our four walks on Saturday 25 November and in making choices and taking actions to #ChangeTheStory for women and girls so, they may live free from the fear of violence,".
"I would also like to encourage men and boys in Powys to make the White Ribbon promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women and girls, which can be done online on the White Ribbon UK website: https://www.whiteribbon.org.uk/promise?rq=promise."
