In a majestic celebration of Welsh culture and choral harmony, the Newtown & District Male Voice Choir took to the stage at the illustrious Royal Albert Hall in London.

I was privileged enough to join the travelling fans from Newtown to watch their performance, which was part of the esteemed Welsh Association of Male Choirs' Festival of Welsh Male Voices, an event that brought together approximately 20 male voice choirs from Wales.

  Royal Albert Hall Celebration

This event starts at 11/05/2024 07:30pm and is being held at All Saints Church. Tickets from £8. Click here for more information.

Choristers from Newtown were slotted among the 500 other choristers on stage, who delivered a memorable performance under the direction of the acclaimed conductor, Dr. Alwyn Humphreys MBE.

Guiding the audience through this musical journey was the BBC Wales announcer, Garry Owen. The concert also featured captivating performances by the award-winning ladies choir, Parti Llwchwr, as well as breathtaking solos by tenor Osian Wyn Bowen and cellist Steffan Morris. Accompanying them were pianist Caradog Williams and organist Huw Tregelles Williams OBE.

To celebrate their recent appearance, the choir is gearing up for a special celebration closer to home.

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Newtown & District Male Voice Choir will host a special performance at All Saints Church, commemorating their recent trip and sharing their musical journey with the local community. Tickets for this event are priced at £7.50, offering an evening filled with song, camaraderie, and the joy of shared experiences.

For those eager to be part of this memorable occasion, tickets are available from choir members or through contact with Gaynor Astley, Claire Hughes, or Kay Davies.
