One of the highlights of the day was the dazzling Illuminated Bike Parade that weaved its way through the town streets. Cyclists decorated their bikes with twinkling lights and festive decorations, capturing the attention of onlookers of all ages.
As the sun began to set, the town gathered at the town hall grounds for the grand Christmas light switch-on event. The lights were switched on by Mayor and Honorary Freeman of the Town, Rory Evans.
The Town Council expressed their gratitude in a heartfelt message on social media, saying "What a fantastic day we had on Saturday at our 'Kicking Off Christmas' event! A massive THANK YOU to each and every one of you who came out to support the festivities throughout our town."
The Council said:
"We were truly blown away by the incredible turnout, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event a resounding success. Your enthusiasm and festive spirit brought warmth to Newtown, and we couldn't be more grateful for such a vibrant community"
