Coronation Grants review

The Resources Committee of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is set to review a report detailing the Coronation Grants scheme, which allows individuals to apply for grants to organize local events, such as street parties, in celebration of the coronation.

The Resources Committee of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is set to review a report detailing the Coronation Grants scheme, which allows individuals to apply for grants to organise local events, such as street parties, in celebration of the coronation.

According to the report, £2,000 was allocated for the scheme, but only eight grants were requested, amounting to a maximum total of £100 per grant. The grants will be disbursed upon receipt of the necessary items.

The local events were planned for the following locations:

  1. Newtown Tennis Club
  2. Campion Close
  3. Brynmor Close
  4. Treowen Community Hall
  5. Newtown Army Cadet Building
  6. Lon Afallen and Llys Afallen
  7. Mill Fields

An estimated 220 people were expected to attend one of these events.

The Resources Committee will consider the report at their next meeting on the 15th May 2023.
