Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council's Economy & Environment Committee will discuss the report at their meeting on Monday 5th June 2023.

The event, organised to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, brought together residents and families for a day of food, entertainment, and community spirit. While the event was largely successful, a few areas for improvement were highlighted in the report.

The 'picnic in the park' event showcased a variety of food and drink options, ranging from hog roast to ice cream, candy floss, and hot/cold beverages. Attendees were delighted with the diverse selection. Entertainment was also abundant, featuring performances by Tony Rowley and Magic Kev, donkey rides, bouncy castles, face painting, and a photo booth. The event received valuable support from the Army Cadets, who efficiently managed litter, distributed picnic boxes, crowns, and flags.

One of the highlights of the event was the provision of free picnic boxes to children, aimed at promoting a sense of community and alleviating the financial burden for families during a cost of living crisis. This gesture was well-received by attendees and showcased the council's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

The report praises the weather conditions were ideal, providing a pleasant atmosphere for participants. The Army Cadets were highly praised for their valuable assistance throughout the day, ensuring the event ran smoothly and efficiently. They managed litter effectively and distributed picnic boxes, crowns, and flags with great care. Additionally, the event itself was a resounding success, running on time without any immediate issues.

However, the report also addressed areas where improvements could be made. Some attendees experienced long lines for donkey rides and face painting, indicating the need for better crowd management strategies in the future.

Suggestions for improvement on future events included involving local cafes in organizing and preparing food, thereby boosting community involvement and supporting local businesses.

Feedback received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. One participant exclaimed, "Was so much fun! Thanks for inviting us to participate." Another shared, "Was a lovely day, and the kiddies absolutely loved it. Weather was beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed by all."
