According to the Post Office, the move is aimed at securing a more sustainable service for the community. The lease for the current premises at Shortbridge Street is set to expire in March 2025. By relocating to Market Street, the postmaster believes they can maintain and enhance essential Post Office services for local customers.
The Post Office is seeking input from residents and visitors through a public consultation. The consultation, which will run until November 20, 2024, welcomes feedback on various aspects related to the proposed relocation, including access to the new location, interior layout, and general feedback on the plan.
Should the relocation be approved, customers can anticipate a modern environment combining the Post Office services with a convenience store at the new premises. Staff at the proposed branch will undergo comprehensive training to ensure top-notch service quality.
