Town Councillors will hear that a 'near miss' incident at Maesyrhandir play park has resulted in the external fencing being repaired.
At their meeting of the Resources Commitee next week, town councillors will discuss a health and safety incident which was reported on the 16th May 2024.

The incident, which occured at Maesyrhandir play park was reported by a member of the public.
The incident is described as:
"During the incident, a very young toddler was observed and reported running unattended across the road towards Ynys Y Plant. It was noted that he managed to breach the fencing a tthe roadside play park, as a section was missing. Fortunantely the toddler narrowly avoided being struck by a passing vehicle."
Following the incident, the issue was escalated and an temporary repair initated by council staff.
According to the report, the Town Council's Operations Manager has also arranged a permanent solution to the issue. The town council staff will also incorporate the perimeter fencing into their weekly safety inspection routine.
