Powys County Council has successfully identified and fined a Newtown resident for fly tipping in community woodland.

The incident came to light when a black bag of refuse was discovered dumped in the 'Black Path' in Trehafren. An enforcement officer examined the bag and traced it back to the culprit, who was subsequently issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.
The resident has not been named for data protection purposes.
Fly tipping is considered a serious offence and is both criminal and anti-social in nature. The act not only harms the environment but also puts public health at risk, and can attract vermin and pests to residential areas.
