Severn Valley Events, who have teamed up with Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council to deliver this year's annual Kicking off Christmas extravaganza announced last night that an iconic event is returning to the town centre.
Newtown Santa Run 2024
This event starts at 30/11/2024 01:30pm and is being held at Town Centre. Tickets free. Click here for more information.
The Newtown Santa Run will include a 5k run or walk setting off from High Street right in the town centre.
The town made history in 2003 when the Dial-a-Ride Newtown Santa Run won a Guiness World Record for the most amount of Santa's assembled in one place. Over 3,200 Santa's took part in the event which broke the then world record of 2,685 in Sweden in 2002.
According to organisers, the 5K event will start at 2pm, leaving High Street, crossing into the Town Hall Grounds and continuing along the route by the football pitches and back alongside the river.
Entry is free and everybody is welcome.
Organisers are encouraging participants to dress up in your best festive attire to help create an amazing atmosphere throughout the community.
All participants will receive a Santa Run medal for participating along with special prizes for best dressed.
