Kerry councillors set next year budget

Kerry Community Council has set their budget for next year, including a 3.5% increase in precept.

Kerry Community Council met on 27th November 2024 to set their annual budget for the next financial year. The budget had been revised due to the changes to National Insurance announced at the UK Budget in October.

The council approved a precept of £35,056.49, an increase of £1,185.49 from the current year's request.

This results in a new Band D per annum charge of £32.50, an increase of 0.89% or £0.28, due to an increased number of dwellings liable to pay council tax in the area.

The council's responsibilities include the maintenance and upkeep of the Grade II listed 19th century carriage bridge, the public conveniences, two playgrounds, a grassed play area, the cemetery and Dolforgan Park including the avenue of trees subject to preservation orders.

Residents in the area are still unsure of what precept the Police and Crime Commissioner will levy, along with what increases that Powys County Council are proposing.
