The grim discovery took place at approximately 4pm on Sunday 28th May 2023, prompting law enforcement to immediately begin their investigation. Later that same day, a 46-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody, assisting with inquiries.

Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed the movements of a man and a woman in the vicinity of Llanidloes or on the A470 between Llanidloes and Dolwen on either Saturday or Sunday. Dashcam footage capturing their presence in these areas could potentially provide valuable clues to aid the investigation.

The woman, described as white and standing at 5 feet 4 inches, possessed a small build and sported very long dreadlocks that extended past her waist. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a grey top, dark trousers, and white trainers. On the other hand, the man, also white, stood approximately 6 feet tall with a stocky build and dreadlocks, which he covered with a dark-colored bandana. His attire consisted of a short-sleeved, high-visibility-style jacket, a T-shirt, shorts, and light-colored trainers. Additionally, he carried a black-style bag with a single strap and was accompanied by a small, dark-colored dog.

Police are also seeking the assistance of an individual who provided the man and his dog with a lift between Welshpool and Shrewsbury, dropping him off near the Dinky's Dinahs layby on Sunday. Authorities urge this person to come forward with any information that may be pertinent to the ongoing investigation.

While a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday evening and remains in police custody, officers have confirmed that they are not actively pursuing any other individuals in connection with the case at this time.
