Steve Withdern expressed his support for the bid and hopes to see the facilities realized, stating that they would be a huge benefit to Newtown.

On social media, the MP wrote:

"It was great to meet with Drenewydd Actif - Active Newtown at The Rec on Saturday to discuss their bid to secure funding for new sports facilities, which I completely support. The dedicated work of volunteers over the years has been really impressive."

"As a former teacher, I know how beneficial sports can be for the physical and mental health of young people. It is essential that modern changing rooms can be built to encourage inclusive participation in the cricket, tennis, and rugby clubs based there, alongside an accessible activities space to bring in even more members of the community."

"I have written in support of the bid and hope to see the facilities realised - they will be a huge benefit to Newtown."
