Parkers House B&B and Restaurant has sent out a distress call to the town and county council as footfall drops drastically, forcing them to reduce their operating days.

In a heartfelt social media post, the owner of Parker's B&B and Restaurant, Tina Lovett, expressed concern over the sharp decline in foot traffic leading to their closure for almost a month.

This struggle is not unique to Parker's, as many independent businesses in Newtown are feeling the pressure of diminishing visitors.

The news comes as we reported last week that popular business Beyond Breakout is also closing and reconfiguring their service.

The plea for support from local authorities is clear – Newtown Town Council and Powys County Council need to provide assistance to independent businesses before it's too late.

In the post, they said:

"Newtown Town Council and Powys County Council need to step up and support their local independent businesses before they lose them all."

"We small businesses do not get any help from the council, no grants or funds awarded to us to help us through these hard times."

"We are calling on the general public to use your independent businesses before you lose them."

Parker's B&B and Restaurant plans to reopen on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, with a promise to reassess the situation by Christmas.
