The certificates awarded to Mervyn and Jayne proclaimed their service of 30 years and organisational efficiency, respectively.

According to the Federation of Small Businesses, in 2019 tourism in Wales – when over 87 million day trips were made – accounted for nearly a fifth of Wales’ GDP, 12% of its total employment through supporting 161,000 jobs, and £6 billion in associated spend.

Russell George – Member of the Senedd for Montgomeryshire said:

“I was delighted to be invited by Alwyn and Olive to join them in recognising the hard work of their excellent employees. I believe it is essential to properly acknowledge those that have helped build a successful enterprise.

“To do this on Wales Tourism Week, I felt, was also very appropriate because it serves to highlight the importance of tourism in Mid Wales in providing jobs as well as underpinning our economy.

“I hope to see the Joneses business continue to flourish, with the aid of their excellent employees, and that all those who support our tourism industry go from strength to strength.”
