The campaign, which utilizes targeted promotion on social media, digital radio, and Spotify, aims to demonstrate that taking a moment to consider safety measures beforehand can lead to positive and secure experiences.

By asking three simple and quick questions, individuals can ensure their safety as well as the well-being of others:

  1. Do I possess the necessary knowledge and skills for the day?
  2. Am I aware of the weather forecast?
  3. Do I have appropriate clothing and equipment for the activity and conditions?

Local safety signs and recommendations, such as swimming between the red and yellow flags on lifeguarded beaches, should also be heeded. By planning in advance and being properly equipped, people can have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Dawn Bowden, the Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport, and Tourism, expressed the need to prioritize self-care and the safety of others during the summer break. She highlighted that taking a moment to contemplate before embarking on adventures in Wales can significantly impact both enjoyment and safety.

Emma Edwards-Jones, Joint Lead for the AdventureSmart Campaign, emphasized that Wales, with its diverse mix of hills, mountains, lakes, and coast, provides the perfect setting for outdoor adventures.

By adopting AdventureSmart principles and investing some thought into daily planning, individuals can ensure a more enjoyable experience and return home safety. Edwards-Jones also emphasized that by equipping themselves with the right knowledge, understanding the weather conditions, and having appropriate clothing and equipment, individuals can demonstrate appreciation for rescue services, enabling them to also enjoy their summer.
