Powys County Council has published a new Public Participation Strategy which outlines the vision for public participation in the area.

The strategy was the result of a 12-week public consultation conducted towards the end of 2022. The Democratic Services Committee reviewed the consultation report and updated strategy document and approved it for publication in February 2023.

As per Welsh Government guidance, the strategy aims to encourage local people to participate in decision-making and is a legal requirement for all local authorities.

Cllr James Gibson-Watt, Leader and Cabinet Member for an Open and Transparent Powys, said:

“I would like to thank everyone that gave feedback on the draft strategy during the consultation period.

“The strategy links nicely with our new Corporate and Strategic Equality Plan and will be used to guide us towards a more collaborative culture of participation and engagement with our local communities, creating a Stronger, Fairer, Greener Powys that we can all be proud of.”
