Open Newtown is set to make a significant impact on both individual households and the environment with the launch of its ambitious three-year project, Open Energy.
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Open Energy aims to empower the Newtown community to take charge of their energy usage, thereby saving money and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Powys, being one of the least energy-efficient areas in the UK, makes Open Energy's mission particularly crucial. The project centers around educating residents on energy efficiency practices to reduce both their carbon footprint and energy bills.
Working with local partners, Open Energy is rolling out a series of community programmes around energy efficiency, helpful tips and advice, repair cafes, home energy efficiency audits and more.
In the face of the current cost-of-living crisis, Open Energy recognizes the immediate concerns of the community.
A spokesperson for Open Newtown stated:
"Climate concerns might understandably be the least of people’s worries during the current cost-of-living crisis, which is why the Open Energy project aims to help and support people first."
