In an official statement, Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mike Childs, expressed his pride and excitement, stating,

"Newtown Town Council is delighted to introduce the new MUGA, which will serve as a fantastic games area for people of all ages, enriching our community life for years ahead. This latest enhancement is a direct outcome of valuable public feedback through consultations and our comprehensive place plan."

The transformation of the entire area was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Open Newtown, the National Lottery, and the Town Council. Numerous enhancements have already been completed, including a new play park, a designated area for toddlers, the impressive Hafan yr Afon building, Model train storage, cycle storage, improved river access, and a relaxing chill-out zone. The Newtown MUGA marks the newest investment into the area.

     The statement said:

"Thanks to all involved including Cllr Val Howard, Chair of Services Committee, Cllr. Lee Menzel the lead Councillor [for the project] and Officers Lee Davies and Hannah Morris for overseeing the project to completion. Finally, the contractors for doing a prompt and professional job”.

The Newtown MUGA is poised to become a central gathering place, attracting residents of all ages and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, active play, and social interaction. The town can now look forward to a vibrant and engaging games area, where friends, families, and neighbors can come together, build lasting memories, and celebrate the joy of an active and united community.
