All Saints Church in Newtown celebrated its grand re-opening after undergoing an extensive 15-month refurbishment project.

The church, which had been closed for the duration of the renovation, was blessed and re-dedicated during a special service conducted by the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron.

The rector of Newtown, Reverend Canon Nia Wyn Morris, expressed her excitement and relief at the successful completion of the project, which had been years in the making. Speaking at the re-opening ceremony, Revd Canon Morris acknowledged the challenges faced during the refurbishment, including difficult meetings, sleepless nights, and unforeseen obstacles.

However, she also highlighted the dedication and perseverance of the construction team, as well as the guidance provided by the treasurer, Charles, in managing the project's expenses.

The £700,000 refurbishment has transformed the church into a modern and inviting space. Revd Canon Morris described the renewed interior as "light and airy," boasting state-of-the-art facilities such as a full kitchen, toilets, wifi, and a state-of-the-art sound system. These modern amenities will enhance the church's ability to serve its congregation and engage with the wider community.

Revd Canon Morris emphasized the positive impact the refurbished church will have on the local community. The updated facilities will enable the church to host various events and activities that were previously limited due to the lack of suitable space. Notably, plans are already underway to reintroduce the popular toddler group, providing support and companionship for parents who may be experiencing loneliness. The church also aims to collaborate with mental health teams to offer support services and foster stronger links with individuals facing challenges in the area.
