A Newtown man caused turmoil for police officers after approaching them in an aggressive manner and spitting blood at them following a night out.
According to the Powys County Times, the incident unfolded during the early hours of July 16, when the officers encountered Nicholas Hatt while responding to another call. Hatt, aged 37 and residing on Crown Street in Newtown, came across the officers in the Severn Street area at approximately 2:45 am.
In Welshpool Magistrates' Court on 8th August, the prosecutor, Helen Tench, revealed that Mr Hatt appeared highly agitated and intoxicated. He not only pushed one officer but also knocked another officer's body-worn camera.
During his appearance in court, Mr Hatt, represented himself. He informed the court that he was self-employed but currently unemployed, without any benefit claims.
Magistrates imposed a £440 fine and ordered Hatt to pay a £176 surcharge, in addition to £85 in costs.
