Residents and visitors will soon see enhanced security measures at the town's public toilets.
The announcement that CCTV was being installed was made during the Services Committee of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council meeting held on Monday night.

The Operations Manager, informed the committee that CCTV installation is currently underway at the Gravel Car Park public toilets in town. She stated, "Contractors began work on site today, with an expected completion date by the end of the month."
With recent incidents of vandalism affecting the public facilities, the officer expressed optimism about the impact of the new security measure, saying, "We are hopeful that this measure will help to reduce vandalism and improve the facilities for everyone."
It understood that the new CCTV system is costing £3,600 to install.
Just three weeks ago, concerns were raised about a spate of vandalism that targeted both sets of toilets in Newtown. The incidents included a broken window at the Gravel toilets and paint sprayed at the Back Lane facilities.
