The recently held Outdoor Festival in Newtown has been a success with over 200 people taking part in a guided walk.

Newtown Outdoor Festival was back with a bang in 2023 building on the success of the 2022 festival. It kicked off on Friday 2nd June with a tour of the Old Friends Meeting House.

Mayor of Newtown, Cllr John Byrne welcomed visitors at the start of the walking programme on Saturday morning. This part of the festival boasted 10 guided walks on both the Saturday and Sunday, with 220 people taking part over the weekend.

A preliminary report by Walking Newtown, the festival organisers, indicate that the feedback from participants was positive.

In adddition to the walks, canoe training was ran by Welshpool Canoe Club & Newtown Paddlers, which welcomed 48 participants across the festival. Ther ewas also archery session held by Hafren Foresters Archery Club which was 'very well attended' according to the report.

In addition to the festival, a Ceilidh was held with Monty Folk Band in Hafan yr Afon which welcomed 55 guests, many from Les Herbiers, Newtown's twinned town in France.
