Newtown man to remain in prison for two more weeks will remain in prison for a further two weeks before sentencing, despite pleading guilty to 11 offences including assault, harassment and making threats.

Philip Malcolm Jones, 66 from Newtown, was to be sentenced on 23 May for his crimes across three towns, including beating a police officer and threatening people at a hospital.

Welshpool Magistrates’ Court decided to adjourn the hearing until 6 June, a move that provoked an outburst from Jones, who criticised the court for his alleged loss of home, vehicle and respect.

A full pre-sentence report will be prepared for Jones.
