The Number Up programme offers a range of free options, including short maths courses and formal qualifications that can enhance job prospects and enable further education.

Participants can access these courses either online or in person, with the option to borrow iPads or laptops from the library to support their learning. In addition to the educational resources, families can also benefit from the Number Up book collection, which encourages enjoyable learning experiences for children of all ages.

Furthermore, various board games such as dominos and snakes and ladders will be made available at library tables across Powys just in time for the summer holidays, allowing families to boost their everyday number confidence while having fun.

Expressing his support for the programme, Cllr David Selby, Powys County Council's Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, highlighted the importance of numeracy skills in daily life. He emphasized that Number Up provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals to build confidence and skills in a fun way, making tasks like home budgeting more accessible and enabling parents and caregivers to progress in their careers.

Cllr Selby encouraged those interested in the initiative to get in touch with their local library for more information. He stated,

"Numeracy skills are essential, but many individuals struggle with numbers and are often reluctant to seek assistance. Number Up offers a supportive and enjoyable environment to develop these skills, making a positive impact on various aspects of life."

The Number Up initiative is made possible by funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is set to continue until December 2024.

Further information about the scheme can be found at www.storipowys.org.uk/number-up. For inquiries, individuals can reach out to the service via email at numberup@powys.gov.uk or phone at 01874 612395.
