Newtown AFC has announced that it will be joining the FAW Huddle, which aims to introduce girls aged between four and 11 to football in a fun, relaxed, and friendly way.

The Huddle program, sponsored by Weetabix, is delivered by clubs and partners across Wales to encourage more girls to play football in their local area.

Newtown AFC's participation in the program means that girls will have the opportunity to train at Latham Park, which will feed into the club's Girls Development sides. This move is expected to boost the club's efforts to promote girls' football and provide a positive experience for girls who have never played club football before.

In a social media post, Newtown AFC expressed their excitement to be a part of the program and thanked their development players who recently served as Wrexham's mascots and ball girls in a game.

The FAW Huddle has been successful in introducing over 6,000 girls to football across Wales since its launch in 2019, with the aim of building confidence and fostering new friendships through fun games and activities. The launch of Phase 5 of the program in 2023 is expected to add to the current 63 Huddle sessions across Wales, providing even more opportunities for girls to enjoy playing football.
