In a recent social media announcement, Open Newtown detailed the plans, stating, "Contractors will be working in the Dolerw Park area near the Gorsedd Stones this week, installing drainage and soakaways to alleviate the flooding issues that have formed these last few years."

The not-for-profit community organisation further mentioned, "Signs will be installed recommending alternative pedestrian routes, such as through Plas Dolerw, whilst works are ongoing."

Following the completion of the drainage work, Open Newtown aims to proceed with surface repairs on the steep path, utilizing the existing steep pathway off Milford Road for access.

This development follows earlier reports of complaints from visitors in January 2024, advocating for enhancements to the green spaces surrounding flooding and drainage issues.

In a subsequent story in March, we revealed that Open Newtown had been actively seeking approval from Natural Resources Wales to incorporate a french drain system to combat the recurring flooding challenges.
