Town Councillors will be voting on who to co-opt to the town council, including applications from two ex-councillors.

At the next meeting of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on Monday 25th July 2022, town councillors will be deciding on who to co-opt as a town councillor to fill the four vacancies across the town. Two vacancies in the South Ward are due to be filled by election.

The nominees for co-option are listed below.

Margaret Lewington

Wife of county and town councillor, Peter Lewington. Member of Milford Road speed watch group and events secretary at Newtown and District Civic Society.

Chris Jones

Director of Creative Stuff Newtown CIC, who hosts DJ Club sessions throughout the town.

Gillian Thurston

Retired teacher at Llanidloes High School and county councillor candidate for Newtown West.

Lee Menzel

Former student of Ladywell and Hafren before emigrating to Canada.

Jack Lewis

Aims to create more opportunities, build more tolerant, safe and open spaces and empower people's creative and physical abilities.

Joy Jones

No statement included (presumed to be County Councillor Joy Jones, former town councillor and current county councillor for Newtown East)

Jackie Davies

Former town councillor and county councillor candidate for Newtown North. Previously co-opted to the Town Council.
