The vote took place during a council meeting on July 24, 2023, where the Council decided against submitting an official response and instead encouraged individual town councillors to respond independently.

The Review of Leisure Services initiated by Powys County Council entails a comprehensive assessment of the current provision, utilization, operating expenses, environmental impact, and infrastructural conditions of the existing leisure facilities. Additionally, the review takes into account alternative active leisure opportunities accessible to the people of Powys.

The decision of Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council not to contribute to the review has raised questions among community members.

Local residents who are concerned about the future of their leisure facilities are encouraged to participate in the survey to ensure their opinions are heard.

To participate in the survey, individuals can visit the official online engagement platform at https://www.haveyoursaypowys.wales/powys-leisure-review-2023. For those who prefer paper copies of the survey, they can be obtained from local libraries or Freedom Leisure Centres. Completed paper surveys can be submitted in-person at any Powys Library or Freedom Leisure Centre, or scanned and emailed to [email protected].

The deadline for responses to the Powys Leisure Review is Monday, August 28, 2023.
