Dave Jones, the experienced goalkeeper, rejoined Newtown in the summer of 2014 and has since made over 300 appearances for the club across two spells. His presence between the goalposts played a crucial role in the team's achievements, particularly in qualifying for Europe on three separate occasions in the last eight seasons. During these campaigns, Jones represented the club with distinction, featuring in 10 European matches.

Nick Rushton, the talented forward, made his return to Newtown AFC after a successful loan spell from Connahs Quay in the summer of 2017. Since then, Rushton has become a fan favorite, making over 200 appearances and netting an impressive tally of 70 goals. His scoring prowess has established him as the club's second-highest scorer since the formation of the Cymru Premier League (formerly the League of Wales).

Expressing his gratitude for their contributions, Newtown AFC Manager Chris Hughes said:

“Nick and Dave have been brilliant for me in my time at the football club and I can’t thank them enough for what they have given to the football club in recent years, they’re obviously very good players but more importantly very good characters.  I would like to wish them the best of luck with what they do next”

Both players leave Newtown AFC at the end of a successful period in the club's history. Their departures mark the end of an era, but their impact will not be forgotten. The club extended its best wishes to Jones and Rushton.
