The Misfits were the talk of the town after an incredible comeback against Jockey B. Despite being 5-1 down after the first session, the Misfits showed resilience, winning the next two sessions 4-1 and 3-1 to secure a brilliant 8-6 away victory. Neil Powell’s perfect 3/3 performance was pivotal, while Lee Harris sealed the win in the final frame, beating Simon Griffiths to cap off a memorable night for the Misfits. The win elevates the Misfits to second place in the league, especially after Full Monty’s match against Llanbadarn was postponed.
Elsewhere, Jockey A climbed to the top of the table with a dominant 11-3 victory over the Lion Cubs. The Jockeys raced to a 7-0 lead, effectively ending the match by the tenth frame when Carl Clark (2/3) overcame Llyr Thomas. Aled Lloyd and Steve Davies were in outstanding form, both achieving perfect 3/3s.
The newly promoted Herbs continue to impress, securing an 8-6 win over a strong Sws team. Ashley Isaac’s 3/3 and Roger Lovatt’s clutch victory in the final frame were the highlights. The Herbs now have two wins from three matches, making a strong start to their Premiership debut.
Monty Teasers, last year’s fourth-place finishers, edged out Cefn Coch A 9-5 in a closely fought match. New signing Steve Bebb was the star of the show with a perfect 3/3, while Jamie Huxley also impressed for Cefn Coch A, who remain at the bottom of the table.
The Nomads earned their first point of the season with a hard-fought draw against Talbot. Alan Walker (2/3) continues to shine for the Nomads, while Mark Crees’ 3/3 for the Tigers kept the contest tight until the very end, where a decisive frame saw the points shared.
Zimmers on a Roll in Division Two
The Zimmers continued their resurgence in Division Two, comfortably beating Cefn Coch B 10-4. Racing to an 8-0 lead, the Zimmers never looked back, with Owen securing the win against Clive Langford. This victory moves them to second place, bouncing back from an opening-week loss. A more challenging match awaits against league leaders Bowling Ballers this week.
Jockey Jesters dropped their first point of the season after a 7-7 draw with Desert Rats, despite strong performances from Harry Pritchard and Wayne Olden (both 2/3). The Bowling Ballers edged out Jones and Co 8-6, with Rhys Bell and Luke Williams both securing 3/3 wins to make the difference.
Meanwhile, the Severn St Mob edged the Outcasts 8-6, with new signing Ted Pryce proving his worth with a 3/3. The Outcasts continue to search for their first win of the season and face a tough task against Cefn Coch this week.
Tight Contest in Division Three
The battle for the top in Division Three is already heating up, with four teams tied at the summit. Dolau B, one of the joint leaders, put on a show last week, hammering the Back Lane Bowlers 11-3. Charlie Martin’s 2/2 performance, including the match-winning frame, was a standout. Dolau B now face a key clash against fellow high-fliers Judges this week.
Monty Melts also remain unbeaten after a commanding 10-4 victory over Mo’s Misfits. Despite Reino DeClerk’s 3/3 for the Misfits, the Melts were relentless across all sessions.
The Lion Caerhowel triumphed 9-5 over Midnight Bowlers, with Jack Shepherd’s perfect 3/3 and debutant Arnold Tanner’s 2/3 making the difference. Meanwhile, the Buck continued their strong start with a 9-5 win over the Outbowlers, with Liam Farrington leading the charge (3/3).
Finally, the Judges defeated the Jury 9-5 in a local derby, racing to an 8-0 lead before the Jury staged a late comeback to make the score respectable. Amy Jones and Johnny Jones both secured 2/2 for the Judges, who now face a crunch tie against Dolau A this week.
