The report indicates that Open Newtown are still receiving calls for improvements to Dolerw Park pathways, which regularly flood in when the river levels are high. In response, Open Newtown have stated:
"We remind park users that more than 50% of the land we manage is flood plain, including the whole of Dolerw Park."
"We cannot drain these areas of land through drainage systems."
"The land floods when the river levels are high and when we've received an inordinate amount of rain for long periods of time, as is the situation now."
Large areas of the flood plains next to the River Severn continue to flood - but as Open Newtown point out, our four legged friends don't mind!
