A current youth representative on Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council could soon step into a more comprehensive role as a full councillor.

The West Ward seat remained unfilled after failing to produce an election, prompting the council to seek a co-opted member at its upcoming meeting next Monday, where Mr. Steer's candidacy will be considered.
In his statement to the council, Bryn Steer expressed his enthusiasm, stating:
"As the current Youth Representative for Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, I have had the privilege of engaging with the community on key issues affecting our younger residents."
Stressing the importance of diverse perspectives in local governance, he highlighted his commitment to serving the West Community Ward, citing his firsthand observation of its challenges and opportunities.
Elaborating on his potential contributions if appointed as a councillor, Steer commented:
"My time as a youth representative has equipped me with the skills to contribute meaningfully to discussions and decisions, but I am now eager to expand my role to that of a full councillor where I can actively vote and help shape policies that benefit the whole community."
He further emphasised his dedication to collaborating with fellow councillors and residents to foster positive change and contribute to the growth and well-being of the community through effective governance.
The decision on Bryn Steer's appointment to the council will be put to a vote by town councillors during the meeting scheduled for next Monday.
