The inaugural meeting of the year is scheduled for Saturday, January 13th, at Plas Dolerw, running from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

The new venue is centrally located, accessible from both the Milford Road and Dolerw Park, making it convenient for both seasoned stargazers and newcomers alike.

The highlight of the evening will be a captivating talk titled 'Moons of the Solar System: A Personal Journey' by Dr. Jane Clark.

Dr. Clark, an amateur astronomer with an impressive 18-year career, will share insights into her discoveries about the moons of our solar system. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the evolution of her photographic techniques over the years, proving that everyone starts their astronomical journey somewhere.

The excitement doesn't end with the talk. Following Dr. Clark's presentation, attendees can engage in social time, and if the weather permits, indulge in observing sessions.

Additionally, there will be a captivating video display showcasing members' astrophotography, providing a visual feast for all astronomy enthusiasts. To round off the evening, Tony Cook will present a review of 'What's On' in the world of astronomy.

Admission to the event is £4 at the door. Alternatively, those passionate about the cosmos can enjoy free entry to all 10 meetings throughout the year by becoming a member for just £25. Interested individuals can join at any meeting or contact the society via email at secretary.newtownastrosoc@gmail.com.

For young astronomy enthusiasts under 18, entry to monthly meetings is complimentary. However, they must be accompanied and signed in by an adult who is either a member or pays the door fee, with the parent or guardian's permission.
