Hosted at the Newtown Catholic Church Crypt on Long Bridge Street (SY16 2BJ), this gathering of astronomy aficionados will kick off at 6:30 pm and continue until 9:30 pm.
The highlight of the evening will be a fascinating presentation on "Comet Chasing" by Cai Stoddard-Jones, a graduate student from Cardiff University who is also the student winner of the prestigious PlanetaryScience4All video contest.
Cai's talk is expected to shed light on the mysteries of comets, their celestial significance, and the thrill of chasing them across the night sky. Whether you're an amateur astronomer or simply intrigued by the cosmos, this talk promises to be both educational and inspiring.
Following Cai's presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in social activities and practical astronomical pursuits.
As the meeting nears its end, Tony Cook will take the stage to provide a comprehensive review of "What's On" in the world of astronomy for the upcoming month.
For those interested in attending, the Newtown Astronomy Society has made it accessible to all. Entry to this enlightening evening is priced at £4 when you pay at the door. Alternatively, you can enjoy free entry to all ten of the society's meetings throughout the year by becoming a member for just £25. Joining is easy and can be done at any meeting, or by emailing secretary.newtownastrosoc@gmail.com.
The society also warmly welcomes young astronomers under the age of 18, who can enter the meetings for free. However, they must be accompanied and signed in by an adult who is either a member or pays the entry fee at the door.
