Carnival queen selected

The annual Newtown carnival is back after this June with new Carnival Queen Elect, Isobelle Jones.

Organisers are urging locals to participate and attend the town centre celebrations which are taking place on Saturday 8th June 2024.

Organisers have also announced that the Carnival Queen Elect for 2024 is Isobelle Jones. Isobelle enjoys rugby, horse riding and going for walks with her dog. She will be joined by her attendants, Talar, Ollie, Jasmine, Esme, Molly, Leilani, Isaac and Carter.

The carnival will be offering hot and cold food, licensed bar and local entertainment in the form of Newtown Silver Band and others.

The carnival, which had been a longstanding tradition for 136 years until the Covid-19 pandemic struck, was postponed since its last event held in 2019, primarily due to the lack of available volunteers to organize the event.
