Textile Junkies and Open Energy have teamed up to celebrate Sustainable Fashion Week in Newtown, which of course has quite a history when it comes to textiles.

In the 19th century, Newtown earned the nickname "The Leeds of Wales" due to its booming flannel trade, with local mills and factories producing high-quality textiles that were exported around the world. Today, as the global fashion industry grapples with the challenges of sustainability, can Newtown play a part in another type of textile revolution?

Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) is celebrated between 20th-29th of September and is dedicated to sparking change in the fashion industry from the ground up and the theme this year is ‘The Power of Repair’.

Textile Junkies and Open Energy have teamed up with other organisations including NPTC, Newtown Textile Museum and Keep Wales Tidy to bring you a whole host of exciting workshops and activities for SFW 2024.
