Notable results included Katie Benbow who got 10 A*s and 2 As; Halle Trigg who got 9 A*s and 3 As; Lucy Powell who got 7 A*s and 3 As and 2 Bs.

Headteacher Rob Edwards praised students for their hard work during a challenging academic year. He said:
“We are incredibly pleased to see the hard work and efforts of our students being rewarded," he said. "This is particularly pertinent after what has been a challenging academic year for all."
"We are today celebrating a positive set of GCSE results and this can only be attributed to the resilience, tenacity, cheerfulness and high spirits of a special group of students. "
"The results achieved by students today and the strong A level results last week finish off a successful year for the school, in the most difficult of circumstances. "
"As ever, I want to thank the staff, parents and the wider school community who have supported us throughout this year.”
Jo Banks, who leads the school's governors, also shared his excitement. He said:
"The students who got their results this week have shown they can handle tough situations. They've worked hard for these results, and we should celebrate that. Newtown High School has done better compared to the last time when students took exams.
"More students are doing well at different levels, and that makes us hopeful for what's coming. We're dedicated to keep improving as a school and helping all our students do their best."

Powys County Council also congratulated learners and was pleased to hear of the many learners who have achieved the results that they needed to take the next step on their career path be it in education, training or an apprenticeship.
Cllr Pete Roberts, Cabinet Member for a Learning Powys, said:
"I send my warmest congratulations to our pupils who have received their GCSE and Level 2 qualification results today.
"I'm extremely proud of the achievements of all our learners and are delighted to hear the stories of their success.
"I want to thank everyone at schools who have supported their learners through their exams and also thank the families who have played a vital role in supporting and encouraging their children throughout their education.
"Looking forward, I would encourage all learners to seek advice and guidance on the wide range of post-16 learning opportunities available to them including the Chweched Powys Sixth form options.
"I wish all our learners the very best in their chosen next steps."
