Scott Ruscoe's tenure as the head of JD Cymru Premier side Newtown has reached its conclusion, marking the end of a challenging 10 months.

The departure comes following Newtown's struggles in both major cups and the league, currently placing ninth in the Cymru Premier following a recent goalless draw with Bala Town.

Pressure mounted on Ruscoe after the team's Welsh Cup defeat at Llanuwchllyn last month, with fans expressing doubts about his suitability for the role despite his history as a player favorite at Latham Park.

Ruscoe, who returned to Welsh football in January after a period leading Port Vale's Under 18s team, had previously been at the helm of TNS before his termination in 2021.

Throughout his 11-month tenure with Newtown, Ruscoe oversaw 28 matches, achieving eight victories, six draws, and 14 defeats.

In a statement, Newtown AFC announced, “Newtown AFC can confirm that first team manager Scott Ruscoe has left the club, with immediate effect. We would like to thank Scott for all of his hard work and dedication during his time with our club, and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Callum McKenzie will assume the interim role in managing the first team as the club commences the search for a new permanent successor.
