It's not long to go until the town's annual Kicking Off Christmas event - which promises a day full of entertainment and Christmas cheer.

Organized by the town council, this celebration on Saturday, November 30th is set to be a highlight of the season.

According to a report presented to the council's Economy and Environment Committee next Monday, a range of activities have now been confirmed for the event. Attendees can look forward to a firework display, donkeys, an inflatable Santa, window shop competitions, music, and various entertainment acts on the main stage, as well as numerous stalls to explore.

The event will also feature a 5k Santa run and walk as we reported here. Businesses around the town center are joining in the merriment and will be an integral part of the day's activities.

High Street will be temporarily closed for the day starting from 9am on the event day to set up various attractions, such as a children's playground and a marquee. The day's schedule is filled with exciting events for everyone to enjoy:

  • 1.30PM - Santa Run warm up
  • 2PM - Santa Run Starts
  • 3PM - Stage Entertainment Begins
  • 3PM - 4PM - Alex Davies
  • 4PM - 5PM - Sax to the Rhythm
  • 5PM - 6PM - New Dynamics Choir
  • 6PM - Light Switch On
  • 6.05PM - Parade
  • 6.45PM - 7PM - Fireworks to Music
  • 7PM - 8.30PM - Built 4 Comfort
