A planning application has been submitted to create three new studio apartments in the town centre.

The application, submitted by Morris Marshall and Poole on behalf of Mr Thakur aims to convert the stores on the ground floor, first floor and outbuilding into three studio apartments at the now closed, Peter Jacks Butchers Shop at 6 Market Street.

24/1508/FUL - Conversion and change of use on lower ground floor and ground floor to mixed retail and stores (Use Class A1) and a residential unit (Use Class C3), and first floor and outbuilding into two residential units (Use Class C3)

Ground Floor, First Floor And Outbuilding Peter Jacks Butchers 6 Market Street Newtown SY16 2PQ. Click here for more information.

The plans also align with the plans to move the Newtown Post Office to the same premises, subject to consultation. These plans would be unaffected by this application.

The proposals would see the now vacant stores at the rear of the property and the outbuilding converted into three studio flats.

The flats would each have one bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/lounge areas. The flat situated in the outbuilding would have a second bedroom.

Town councillors will consider the application at their next meeting in December and provide a comment, however the final decision will be made by Powys County Council at either their Planning Committee or delegated to officers.

The application can be viewed online here - you can also use this link to provide comments to the County Council.
