Residents, community groups, and businesses in Newtown recently came together for the latest Tidy Newtown event, where they collected more litter than ever before, according to reports.

Organised by Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and held in March, the event saw groups and individuals from all over the town working together to tidy up various areas.

Councillor David Selby, speaking to the Economy and Environment Committee, described the week as a huge success.

While the event was a positive step towards keeping Newtown clean and beautiful, Cllr Selby also pointed out the need for more pressure to be placed on litter-producing businesses in the area.

He specifically highlighted the Gravel car park as one area where litter remains a significant problem.

Residents are encouraged to continue participating in events like Tidy Newtown and to report any ongoing litter issues to the town council.
