The Newtown Community Fund is a grant that supports projects through community, voluntary or self-help groups. The grant traditionally supports groups which carry out work in the community.

During June the Community Grant Fund awarded £5,000 to local organisations. The successful applicants of this round were:
- Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre
- Northside Community Association
- Ponthafren
- 2nd Newtown Guides Unit
- Happy Holiday – Hub of Hope Foundation
- Gwent & Powys (Newtown) Army Cadet Force.
A spokesperson for the Town Council said:
"Community groups are invited to apply for the Newtown Community Fund. The grant traditionally supports groups which carry out work in the community and extend access, participation, increase skill, creativity or generaly improve the quality of life for people in their area."
"The next available opportunity to apply for the Newtown Community Fund will be at the end of September for consideration in October."
