The new green space rangers, SR Security & K9 Services have shared their experiences of the first few weeks since their appointment.

Despite positive community engagement, the rangers report ongoing issues that threaten the safety and cleanliness of these areas, urging residents to remain vigilant and respectful to preserve the natural beauty of locations like Dolerw Park, Trehafren Fields, Trehafren Hill, Vaynor Fields, and other local parklands.

Among the concerns included littering, anauthorised fires, off-road vehicle use, anti-social behaviour and dog fouling.

Concerns also included damage to park property, where over £3,000 worth of damage, including plants has been reported.

The new rangers have encouraged the public to be proactive in helping address these issues. They invite residents to report any concerning behavior or safety risks via email at reports2srrangers@gmail.com, stressing the importance of community involvement to help maintain these spaces.

While the new rangers continue their patrols and support for Newtown’s parks, they remind the public to take responsibility for their actions, be respectful of park guidelines, and clean up after themselves and their pets. In cases of emergency, residents should call 999, and for non-emergency matters, 101.
