Town councillors have elected two new community youth representatives to sit on the Town Council, who will provide an insight into the needs of young people in the town.

Bryn Steer and Courtney Fitch were elected at their last meeting on Monday 24th June 2024.

The new youth representatives will provide a valuable insight into the needs and issues affecting young people. Responsibilities include gathering and relaying ideas from young people, promoting engagement in council activities, participating in meetings and debates, and building connections with youth groups and organisations.
As part of the election process, three candidates put their application forms forward and were considered by councillors.
In her personal statement, Courtney explained is a high school student and wishes to continue a career in the Senedd or local town council once she completes sixth form.
Bryn explained that they volunteer at a local church and is "immersed in the vibrant world of landscape gardening".
Whilst they cannot vote, but can take part in discussions and sit on committees. They can also claim an allowance from the Council of £150 per year for their role.
Each rep will also be assigned to a town councillor who will act as their mentor.
